feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
In the parable of the sower and the seed found in Matthew 13:3-9 and Luke 8:5-8 we read that the seed that was sown was the word (logos) of the kingdom. Logos is God’s revealed word – a revelation. It is static in that it never changes. But when it is spoken into a given situation it is dynamically transformed by the Holy Spirit into God’s Word (rhema) spoken word. In verses 16 and 17 above Isaiah is telling The Lord that not all have believed that Isaiah was carrying God’s message. Today as we go with God’s Word (logos) we will find some who Hear what we say as merely our opinion or as a quote from a book called the Bible. There will be some who hear it as God’s word to them. The Holy Spirit is taking the written revelation and transforming it into a (rhema) as in Romans 10:17.
At the State Fair, they can’t hear without a preacher. And we need to know we have been sent. Once we have prayed about it and know that the Lord wants us at the State Fair, don’t worry or be afraid about any of it. We go giving out the logos (revealed) word of God. That is our business. They hear it as a word from God (rhema) when the Holy Spirit has spoken it to their heart dynamically. That is the Holy Spirit's business.
Jesus told us (John 16:7) I tell you the truth; it is expedient (advantageous) for you that I go away. for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. The Holy Spirit comes to live within us to teach us (John 14:17) and to reveal to us the deep things of God (1 Corinthians 2:9-16) He is the one, not us, who does the work of conviction in the hearts of those we meet in the world (John 16:8-11) And when He is come He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
Let’s give ourselves anew to God today and trust His Holy Spirit to reveal the Light of our Lord Jesus through us to others wherever He places us.
